Description

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Project Accountant in Holton, Kansas. This role will involve working on construction projects, liaising with project managers, and utilizing your skills in general ledger, Microsoft Excel, month-end close, and other related tasks. You will bring your expertise in construction accounting and work-in-progress accounting to our team.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and coordinate the general ledger and month-end close activities.

• Apply your proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial reporting and data analysis.

• Oversee and manage construction accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting.

• Work closely with project managers in monitoring and managing construction projects.

• Use your understanding of work-in-progress accounting in tracking and reporting on project progress.

• Resolve any accounting discrepancies and irregularities.

• Comply with all financial regulations, including those specific to the construction industry.

• Review and improve existing accounting systems and processes as needed.

• Collaborate with the finance team on budgeting, forecasting, and other financial planning activities.

• Communicate and explain accounting issues and evolving accounting guidance to the management team.

Requirements

• Must hold a minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential

• Demonstrated experience in General Ledger maintenance and management

• Experience in handling Month End Close procedures

• Understanding of Work In Progress (WIP) accounting practices

• Knowledge of Construction Accounting principles and practices is required

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
