UCLA Health Senior Custodian - Santa Monica Hospital in Los Angeles, California

Description

Under the

supervision of the Principal Food Service Manager, the Senior Custodian is

responsible for various tasks in support of patient and production meal

service.

Responsibilities

include:

  • Ensures that patients receive appropriate trays and snacks within specified time frames.

  • Maintains nourishments/supplies on the nursing unit pantry and provides room service information to patients.

  • Maintains cleanliness within the kitchen in accordance to prescribed safety, sanitation and food handling practices and procedures.

  • Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping and waxing floors.

  • Washing walls, doors, windows, light fixtures, discarding trash in waste bins.

  • Clean, sanitize and reline all trash containers and linen hampers.

  • Wash and steam rubber floor mats.

  • Responsible for washing dishes, pans, utensils and small equipment according to established procedures.

  • Responsible for cleaning and proper storage of housekeeping equipment and report all equipment malfunctions to supervisor on duty.

Salary

Range: $19.47 - $25.16 Hourly

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and write, follow oral and written instructions in English language.

  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic.

  • Ability to follow standardized recipes.

  • Knowledge of general and nutrient modified diets.

  • Ability to work in standing position for a long period of time, stretch, stoop, bend, climb, and reach repetitively.

  • Ability to work in hot, cold and/or wet areas; lift 40 lbs and push/pull 350 lbs.

  • Knowledge in the use, disposal, and labeling of chemicals used in a food service setting.

  • Ability to conform to dress code and work in a non-smoking environment.

  • Ability to practice safe food handling techniques.

  • Ability to adjust to fluctuating work load and work schedule.

  • Interpersonal skills and interact effectively with co-workers, customers, asst. managers and managers.
